Lumber Products, Inc., founded in 1950 by Elm D. Wood, Sr., on Airline Highway in Metairie, began as a basic building products supplier with lumber as the main product line.  Mr. Wood’s wife maintains ownership and is still involved in making decisions about the direction of the company.  Frank Fazzio, who has been with the company since the early 1960’s, is the current manager.

 The building contractor has always represented the largest portion of Lumber Products’ market, with commercial accounts and do-it-yourselfers comprising the remainder.  Over the past 15 years the product line has become increasingly more specialized toward the framing package for homes, including framing lumber, plywood, and both CCA and Advance Guard treated lumber.  However, the company also markets specialty products such as Hardiplank, primed redwood, Trex, and basic doors and molding.

Frank Fazzio, manager, points out some of the new product lines offered by Lumber Products such as:  HARDIPLANK, a fiber-cement exterior siding, which comes both in weatherboard type planks and also in panels;  PRIMED REDWOOD from PALCO (a redwood manufacturer), which reduces the amount of time/labor of painting;  and CCA TREATED WOOD, which resists moisture and termites.

Lumber Products has developed an excellent sales staff as well as a superior in-house support staff.  The sales staff is very knowledgeable, and the company has always stressed service and a high quality product line.

Lumber Products is a leader in Wood Unlimited, a local organization of lumber suppliers.   Through Wood Unlimited, Lumber Products Inc is among the companies who have provided building materials at a reasonable cost to the Home Builders Association of New Orleans’ Benefit House to benefit Children’s Hospital of New Orleans.

Lumber Products, Inc., maintains an active membership in the Home Builders Association.  Most customers are members, and Lumber Products, Inc. provides strong support to this fine organization.
